iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4S: battery life with iOS 7 beta
iOS 7 drains iPhone 4S battery to one percent after just 12 hours
Curious how battery life compares on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S when each phone is running iOS 7? Battery drain has been a big concern in the past for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S owners, most notably after installing software updates. According to the latest battery test results with iOS 7 beta, that hasn’t changed much.
The folks over at tech site Phones Review tested both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S with iOS 7 beta and, not surprisingly, found that the iPhone 5 performed better than its predecessor:
“We noticed that the iPhone 4S was experiencing bad battery life and much faster drain after installing the iOS 7 beta, so we put this to the test and fully charged both the iPhone 5 and 4S. Then we made sure all settings were the same with all apps and windows closed in the background.”
The results showed that the iPhone 5 lost just three percent of its battery life after the first three hours, while the iPhone 4S lost 15 percent of its total battery life after the same amount of time. “This is a much faster drain than experienced with iOS 6 or on an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 beta,” the report added.
After 12 hours (most of it in standby mode) the iPhone 5 was at 86 percent battery life, while the iPhone 4S dropped all the way down to one percent while mainly in standby mode).
The report goes on to say that this may not be the case once iOS 7 is official.
“It is also worth noting that we fully changed both iPhones again and after using the iPhone 4S for just web browsing, the battery drained 5% in only 10 minutes. This certainly highlights major problems with iOS 7 beta on the iPhone 4S, but it could just be a bad install and this has happened before with iOS 6.”
