Apple iPhone 5S vs. Goophone i5S

We take a look at the potential spec of Apple's iPhone 5S and see how it stacks up to Goophone's affectionate homage, the i5S -- yes, really

Apple’s iPhone 5S could still be weeks away, but users after a shiny new device bearing a distinctly similar moniker can grab clone-maker extraordinaire Goophone’s i5S right now, and for the princely sum of $150! But just how does this clone measure up against what we’re expecting from the real thing?

Let’s take a look and see, shall we?

Apple’s screen technology has been at the fore in the smartphone market since the introduction of its retina display technology and the iPhone 5S is certain to feature a high-end display.

Sharp’s IGZO technology has been discussed as a potential for the new device, which would allow Apple to craft a thinner iPhone while simultaneously upping the pixel density, so we’re expecting something nice, really.

The Goophone i5S features a four-inch ‘oneglass’ touchscreen that operates at a resolution of 854 x 480. Does the screen measure up to that of the iPhone 4? No. Nor does it come close to the iPhone 4S or 5.

Winner – iPhone 5S (rumored)

Apple’s iPhone 5S is likely to ship with a beefed-up version of the iPhone 5’S A6 chip with a higher clockspeed and lower power demands.

We’re also expecting the device to feature 1GB RAM like its predecessor. The device will almost certainly come in 16, 32, 64 and 128GB flavors too, though there’ll be no micro SD card support – as ever.

The i5S sports a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor and also offers 512MB RAM – so it’s hardly muscular – but you’d be surprised by how nippy the thing appears at times. Other than that there’s nothing to write home about on the device’s spec sheet.

Winner – iPhone 5S (rumored)
