If your Nokia Lumia 900 goes missing, use our guide to learn how to reunite with your precious device

When you own a Nokia Lumia 900, losing your phone is more than just misplacing a device; it’s far more serious than that. The Lumia 900, when used to its full potential, can be so much more than a piece of tech for making calls: it’s your phonebook, organizer, wallet, personal assistant and everything else besides, so the last thing you want is for it to end up in the wrong hands.

Luckily, the Lumia 900 is a Windows Phone device and has technology on board that makes it easy to track down if it ever goes missing. In the worst case scenario you can even erase the phone, protecting all of your personal data.

So, if you find yourself in a bind and you need to locate your Lumia 900, follow this simple guide:

  • On your PC, laptop or tablet, direct your browser to www.windowsphone.com
  • Click ‘My Phone’
  • Click ‘Find my phone’
  • The site will now search for your device and present you with a real-time view of its location, which you can then give to the police or if it’s somewhat familiar you can even head there yourself to grab it
  • If it flags up as at home, or somewhere else nearby you can trigger the ‘Ring’ option, which will allow you to dig it out from behind the couch or wherever else it’s ended up
  • If, however, it’s in an inaccessible place or you’re concerned that your personal information may be at risk, you can hit the ‘Erase’ option, which will wipe the device, and save you the serious headache of having your identity stolen...or worse
