Apple loses bid to block Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N, Galaxy Nexus sales in Germany

Apple failed to convince a German court to preliminarily halt Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Tab 10.N device sales in Germany

A Munich Regional Court judge has denied Apple’s request for an preliminary injunction against Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone and Galaxy Tab 10.1 N tablet. Apple was suing Samsung over several patents related to design and touchscreen technology related to mobile devices.

The Munich Regoinal Court ruling comes just one day after a Dusseldorf Appeals Court upheld Apple’s request to permanently halt sales of the original Galaxy Tab 10.1. Samsung began selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, a refreshed version of the 10.1, in Germany to bypass the original ban.

Samsung and Apple have been battling it out in a patent/design war for most of 2011. Apple argues that Galaxy S smartphones and tablets infringe on its iPhone and iPad designs. The company has been working extremely hard to block sales of some Samsung devices since the dispute began last year.

While Apple has more than 20 cases pending internationally against Samsung, the Munich Court ruling is still a definite set back. The ruling effectively blocks Apple’s request and could affect future German cases involving Apple.

A full trial is slated to begin in summer of 2012, so this case is far from over.
