Android ICS update for Samsung devices rumored to become available in March
Android 4.0 upgrade for Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note may arrive sooner than expected
Mobile industry insider Eldar Murtazin revealed (via Twitter) that an official Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note should be available beginning March 1. Actual release dates and availability will be contingent upon country and carrier. Murtazin also noted that the Android 4.0 update can be made over the air or using Samsung Kies (software that allows syncing between mobile devices and browsers on the same network).
This news comes nearly two months after Samsung announced it would offer upgrades on the latest version of Android OS for Galaxy devices. In its official statement, Samsung said that this update would start in the first quarter of 2012, but offered no exact date.
Devices compatible with the ICS upgrade will also include Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus.
