Apple iOS 6.1 lets you buy movie tickets with Siri
The iOS 6.1 update includes multiple bug fixes and the ability to buy movie tickets using Siri and Fandango
Apple has released the next version of its mobile software and iOS 6.1 adds a lot of new features and fixes a few bugs.
One of the standout features of the iOS 6.1 software is the ability to now purchase movie tickets through Siri. This is done through a partnership with Fandango and it it really streamlines the process of buying tickets on the go.
Apple's iOS 6.1 also includes the ability for iTunes Match users to download individual songs from iCloud. It also features 4G LTE support for more markets around the world. The iPhone 5 already could utilize the 4G LTE networks on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint but the latest update will allow it to use the high-speed mobile data network for 36 more carriers around the globe.
Buried in the iOS 6.1 press release is the fact that Apple now has 800,000 programs in its App Store and more than 300,000 of those have been specifically designed for the iPad. That figure dwarfs the number of tablet-specific apps for Android tablets.
The iOS 6.1 software is available now and it's compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the iPad fourth generation, iPad third generation, the iPad mini, the iPad 2 and the fourth and fifth generation iPod touch devices.
