iOS 6 jailbreak to launch on Super Bowl Sunday
Here's what you need to know about the latest iOS 6 jailbreak
The latest iOS jailbreak is all the rage this morning. Revealed Wednesday by the evad3rs hacking team, the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak is expected to be available soon. No exact date has been given, but as App Advice points out, a closer look hints that it's likely to happen on Feb. 3. Here's what it found:
"What’s not explicitly noted, though, is the release date for evasi0n. Well, apparently, that bit of information is also included, if only hinted at, on the website. As pointed out on Twitter by @Pix3lDemon (via iDownloadBlog), the image of iDevices on the website’s splash page shows “3″ on each of the Calendar app icons. This Sunday happens to be Feb. 3."
Details are sparse at the moment, but the evad3rs did note on its website (created specifically for the iOS 6 jailbreak) that it will be compatible with all iOS devices running 6.0 through 6.1. Pretty crazy, given that Apple's latest version was just released this week.
But getting back to the possible Feb. 3 launch date for a moment -- it's Super Bowl Sunday. How absolutely wonderful for iOS junkies who just also happen to love sports. It's like birthday and Christmas all rolled into one big Dorrito's wrapped package.
Now, you might be thinking, "Wait a minute, isn't that whole jailbreaking thing totally illegal?" Yes. Wait, no. Well, kind of. It's technically illegal to jailbreak your iPad, but your iPhone and iPod touch are totally protected until 2015. Cult of Mac does a great job explaining the difference between unlocking and jailbreaking and all the legal bits. Do yourself a favor and make sure you're in the know.
Keep in mind, the Feb. 3 day is not official, it's just a possibility. We'll let you know when we hear more on that. In the meantime, let us know what you think. Do you plan on jailbreaking your iPhone?
