Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 reduces charging times
Upcoming Snapdragon devices will use the Quick Charge 2.0 technology to let you charge faster
Qualcomm detailed its Quick Charge 2.0 technology that will debut with its Snapdragon 800 devices and this promises to let you spend less time waiting for your gadgets to charge.
In a blog post, Qualcomm said that the Quick Charge 2.0 tech will be built into future devices and in the AC/DC wall charger that comes with them. Qualcomm is promising that devices can charge up to 75 percent faster with Quick Charge 2.0 and said that a tablet which normally takes seven hours to charge can reach that same capacity in less than three hours.
Previous Qualcomm devices used the 1.0 technology and those will still be compatible with the Quick Charge 2.0 gadgets but won't get the same charging speeds. Look for devices and chargers with Quick Charge 2.0 to land in early 2014, Qualcomm said.
This just gives us another reason to anticipate the Snapdragon 800, which should land in devices that are available for purchase by the end of the year. This processor promises to provide quad-core processing power, integrated 4G LTE Advanced, can output Ultra HD (4K) videos and more.
