Samsung wants you to attend its Galaxy S4 unveiling
Samsung is hosting a Galaxy S4 event in Times Square on March 14. Here's what you need to know
Samsung is expected to unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S4 during its Samsung Unpacked 2013 event on March 14. And here's the kicker: You're invited. If the thought of a new Galaxy smartphone makes you feel like a kid on Christmas morning, you'll have to get yourself to Times Square in New York. The official unveiling will likely come from a livestream, as the actual event is set to take place at Radio City Music hall. Details are sparse, but you can follow the @timessquare Twitter account to stay up to date on what Samsung might have in store.
Samsung's Galaxy S4 is expected to feature a five-inch screen with 1080p HD resolution. It will likely sport the company's Eynos octa-core processor, but we've also heard that it could be powered by Qualcomm chips. The Android-based handset should also include 4G LTE capabilities and Bluetooth. We're guessing it will run on Google's Jelly Bean OS (sorry folks, you'll still have to hold out for Key Lime Pie until Google's I/O developer's conference in May).
The new Galaxy smartphone should also sport Samsung's TouchWiz user interface and maybe a few new surprises. Samsung has done well with its Galaxy lineup, but it will need to continue releasing innovative features if it hopes to keep up with Apple's iPhone. Android recently took the top spot for U.S. smartphone sales, but that was partly due to Sprint slashing its prices. Speaking of Sprint, Samsung's Galaxy S4 should be available with all of the major carriers, with a possible release date of mid-April or May.
As for pricing and other specs, everything is up in the air. Thankfully, we won't have to wait much longer to find out, as Samsung's Unpacked event is just two weeks away.
