How to check your data usage history on AT&T
We show you how to view your data usage history to see how you might benefit from AT&T's new data plans
Following AT&T's announcement that unlimited data plans are going the way of the dodo -- unless you're grandfathered in, that is -- most customers find themselves wondering how this might affect them.
You can read estimates of how many emails and song downloads can fit within each plan until you're blue in the face. The truth is that the best way to see how these changes will affect you is to analyze your usage history and see how much data you use each month.
In this guide, we show you how to check your data usage history in a few easy steps.
- In your browser, navigate to wireless.att.com
- To the right of the menu across the top, click Log in
- Enter your phone number and password, then click Login
- Beneath the menu bar at the top, click on Usage & Recent Activity
- Near the center of the page, click on View Past Data Usage
You are now presented with a graph depicting your last six months of data usage. You can select a longer period of time by adjusting the Bill period start date and Bill period end date drop-down menus above the graph.
Again, if you currently have an unlimited data plan from AT&T, you do not have to switch to a new plan if you don't want to. If you find that your usage consistently sits below the new 2GB threshold however, you stand to save a decent amount of money by switching to a new cheaper plan.
