Images leak claiming to show variant of upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will be officially unveiled on March 14, but one Chinese forum user has leaked images and a video which he claims show the dual-SIM variant of the upcoming smartphone, rumored to be heading to carrier China Unicom.

The device is rumored to feature a full HD display, quad-core CPU clocked to 1.8GHz, 2GB RAM and a 13-megapixel camera, not to mention Android 4.2.1. Jelly Bean, and this proposed spec sounds suspiciously like that of the upcoming Galaxy S4, lending some credence to the leaker’s claims, but the device’s aesthetic looks like last season’s device, rather than the new breed of Galaxy S, which is widely expected to boast a new, squared off chassis – so we’re filing this one in the maybe pile for now.

The Galaxy S4 will launch on Thursday in New York, at one of Samsung’s ‘Unpacked’ events and the upcoming smartphone has generated huge amounts of interest in the run-up to its unveiling. Gossip has been rife surrounding the smartphone’s spec and the current consensus is that the device will pack an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, which will be based on AMD’s big.LITTLE archictecture, a 5-inch full HD display with a pixel density in excess of 440ppi, 2GB RAM and 16, 32 and 64GB models, as has become the norm.

Other rumors suggest that the device may include Samsung’s fledgling flexible screen technology which, if true, would make the new Galaxy S4 unique in the smartphone market – not to mention durable in the extreme.

What we actually know about the device is, as ever, limited, but we’ve seen an official Samsung wireless charging dock pass through the FCC in recent months, so we’re fairly certain that the device will include provision for the Qi standard as competitors like Google’s Nexus 4 do, right out of the box.

Everything else is hot-air until Thursday, but to tide you over until then there's a neat video of this purported dual-SIM Galaxy S4 for you to feast your eyes on below.
